Rogers' big night lifts San Jose State past Antelope Valley

SAN JOSE -- Frank Rogers scored 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting to help lead San Jose State past Antelope Valley, from the California Community College Athletic Association, 90-60 on Wednesday night.

Rodgers also pulled down a team best 10 rebounds while adding four assists, three steals, and two blocks. Ryan Welage and Gary Williams Jr. each finished with 10 points for the Spartans (4-3), which have won three straight after losing three of four to open the season.

San Jose State opened the game on a 19-9 stretch and led 33-25 at halftime. The Spartans extended their lead to double figures early in the second half on the strength of a 10-2 run, including seven points from Welage. Leon Bahner hit a free throw with 14:08 left which pushed the Spartans lead to 19 (48-29), the largest of the night.

Joe McNiff scored 13 to lead the Pioneers.
