Stanford just outside Top 10 in AP Preseason Poll

The Pac-12 set its own record with six teams representing the conference in The Associated Press preseason college football poll with the Stanford Cardinal sitting just outside the Top 10 at No. 11.

The Southeastern Conference matched its own record for most teams in the preseason poll from one conference with eight.

Defending national champion Florida State is ranked No. 1 after receiving 57 of 60 first-place votes. No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Oregon and No. 4 Oklahoma each received one first-place vote. Ohio State is No. 5 and Auburn is No. 6. The rest of the top 10 is UCLA at No. 7, followed by Michigan State, South Carolina and Baylor.

The other schools representing the Pac-12 are No. 15 USC, No. 19 Arizona State, and No. 25 Washington.
