Report: Blazers ‘looking at' adding Oubre in free agency

We now are three days into NBA free agency and Kelly Oubre Jr. still has not agreed to terms on a contract.

Might he end up signing with the Portland Trail Blazers?

Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes said the following on the latest episode of his Posted Up podcast.

"I expect Damian Lillard to go and play for the Portland Trail Blazers," Haynes began. "I believe he wants to give [head coach] Chauncey Billups a chance, and I think he's gonna go there [and] give the roster a shot.

"And Portland's probably still not done. I'm hearing Paul Millsap is a guy they're looking at [and] I hear Kelly Oubre [is] a guy that they're looking at."

Yours truly is not a salary cap expert, and it's unclear if the Blazers can offer Oubre the full mid-level exception (about $9.5 million) or just the taxpayer mid-level exception (about $5.9 million).

Oubre got off to a very slow start with the Warriors last season, but averaged 17.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals over his final 33 games, while shooting 47.8 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from deep.

You can't completely rule out Oubre re-signing with Golden State, but all signs point to him going elsewhere.
