Minor Leagues, Major injury
In his first two seasons with the AHL’s Worcester Sharks, Stalock played in 102 games with a 58-36-6 record, which included being named to the AHL All-Rookie Team in 2009-10. Stalock made his NHL debut, in relief of Antti Niemi, Feb. 1, 2011 and won, but was sent back to Worcester afterward. Three days later, in the third period, opponent Dwight King landed on backside of Stalock’s knee. He tried to get up, but couldn’t. The peroneal nerve -- the nerve that controls movement and feeling in the lower leg, foot and toes -- and tendon had been severed.
