Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski was voted Major League Soccer's Player of the Month for June, the league announced Thursday.

Wondolowski also won the award in April, and becomes the first player to claim the award twice in a season since Juan Pablo Angel in 2007. Only three other people, Clint Mathis (2000), Carlos Ruiz (2002) and Landon Donovan (2003) have won the award twice in one season.

The Danville native scored netted game-winners in June, helping San Jose to a perfect 3-0-0 mark for the month, highlighted by road victories against the Colorado Rapids and Real Salt Lake City as well as the recent edition of the California Clasico against the LA Galaxy.

Wondolowski has played a vital role in lifting the Earthquakes to the top of both the Western Conference and Supporters Shield tables with an 11-4-3 record.

The Major League Soccer Player of the Week and Month honors are selected during the MLS regular season by a panel of journalists from The North American Soccer Reporters (NASR). The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at www.soccerreporters.com.
