OAKLAND – Lamarr Houston set a career high with Sunday’s sack of Denver quarterback Peyton Manning. It was his sixth and maybe most impressive of the season, showcasing a rare combination of power and agility in rushing the passer.

It might have also been his last in silver and black.

Houston said he hoped to remain a Raider but conceded it was “very possible” that he’s played his final game in the East Bay.

“I believe that Dennis Allen and the Raiders might be looking to move on and have me go to another team or move on and find something more what they want for their system and their scheme,” Houston said. “Who knows? It’s a rough business and nothing’s guaranteed and everything changes from day to day.”

The uncertain outlook was surprising after Sunday’s 34-14 loss to the Denver Broncos, and suggests contract talks haven’t gone as well as expected.

The Raiders spoke highly of Houston earlier in the season and made contact with the defensive end’s representatives about an extension. The team still has an exclusive negotiating window to work things out.

Houston is expected to be a hot commodity on the free-agent market, especially after setting career highs with 69 tackles, six sacks and two forced fumbles.

Houston reiterated his love for the organization, but thinks the Raiders want to move on.

“I believe that they were talking me up and things like that, but to a certain standpoint,” he said. “I believe that, me and the Raiders, I think I’ve had good years and I really appreciate this organization. I love this organization, but as far as what some of the coaches want, I’m not sure. That’s out of my control. I play the best I can and do everything I can to contribute.”
