ALAMEDA – Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs was pivotal to the Raiders playoff chances. A victory would’ve put them right in the mix. A loss all but mathematically eliminates them from contention.
Head coach Jack Del Rio knows the odds are long, as small as 1 percent by some projections.
“There’s nothing more that our team wanted to do than to deliver a big victory at home and put ourselves in second place, right in the thick of the playoff hunt,” Del Rio said during his Monday press conference. “Now it’s extremely unlikely for us. I think it’s obvious. I look at the different probability tables. I think we’re 1 percent chance or something. That’s not real good odds.

The Raiders are in a similar spot, somewhat surprised to be here so early in the season considering how many competitive games they’ve played. They’ve let too many games slip away, including the Kansas City loss.
Del Rio believes his players will continue working hard and play well despite slim playoff offs following Sunday’s disappointing result.
“The reality is we have a good group of players,” Del Rio said. “They believe in each other. We know that we have not played our best football yet. We feel like we have a chance to do that in this last month.”
