Injury report: Raiders RB Murray ruled out vs Chiefs

ALAMEDA – The Raiders will play another game without Latavius Murray. The running back was ruled out of Sunday’s game against Kansas City with a bout of turf toe that will sideline him for two full weeks.

The Raiders will go with a rotation used in last week’s victory over San Diego, featuring rookies DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard and fullback Jamize Olawale.

The young tailbacks should do most of the work, but Olawale is productive in short-yardage situations and has sneaky speed in the open field.

“Murray is a big part of our offense, but we have to step up and make plays while he’s out,” Olawale said. “We have to continue to do what we’ve been doing all season.”

Washington and Richard are diverse talents, which the Raiders have taken advantage of on offense and special teams.

“Just they have so much on their plate,” offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said. “They’re young guys. Fifth game of their career and they have to contribute on special teams and be ready to go run the punt team, cover kicks, catch punts, catch kicks and then know everything that we’re doing on offense. Very impressed.”

The Raiders will go with a different starter at right tackle. Austin Howard is back to full health after dealing with an ankle injury, and his presence should help the run game and in pass protection. Rookie Vadal Alexander filled in well the last two weeks, but is now out with an ankle injury. Menelik Watson will miss his third straight game with a groin issue.

Tight end Clive Walford and linebacker Malcolm Smith are questionable to play Sunday.

The Chiefs are shockingly healthy, even coming off a bye. Everyone on their 53-man roster should be available for this game.

Chiefs Injury Report

NOTE: The Chiefs don’t have a single player listed as out or questionable heading into Sunday’s game. OLB Tamba Hali (knee), LB Sio Moore (illness), RB Knile Davis (concussion), CB Phillip Gaines (knee), OL Jah Reid (knee), Charcandrick West (ankle) did not receive an injury designation, meaning they will play.
