New Raiders RB not necessary

ALAMEDA -- Darren McFadden and Taiwan Jones have missed a combined nine games due to injury. And while there is no sign of McFadden -- who went down with what the Raiders called a mid-foot sprain to his right foot on Oct. 23 -- returning anytime soon and Jones barely working out his on the side on Wednesday after injuring a hamstring on Nov. 20, you have to wonder -- did coach Hue Jackson contemplate bringing in another running back to back up Michael Bush?"No, because I felt like I was going to get these guys back," Jackson said Wednesday. "Again, bringing somebody else in to be here for whatever time that is (remaining in the season)? No. Obviously, if I had known that Darren was going to be, you know, gone as long as he has been, maybe you go about it."
There have been conflicting reports as to what exactly has ailed McFadden. CBS broadcaster Phil Simms said this weekend the running back actually had a Lisfranc injury that was potentially season-ending. Jackson said it was not a season-ender, but allowed that a Lisfranc sprain and a mid-foot sprain were the same...at least to him."You just don't have an idea about these foot (injuries)," Jackson said. "It's a foot. What do you do with a foot? After you X-ray it and they tell you you don't need surgery and it's time (off) that you need, you just don't know. You don't know how fast guys heal. You don't know the different degrees."I mean, Denarius Moore is out here today and he has somewhat of the same injury. So everybody is going to heal a little bit differently than other people. So we'll just continue to monitor it, keep working at it and get these guys out here as fast as we can."
