Khalil Mack spent his weekend at the NFLPA’s Rookie Premiere. The event is commercial to the core, with photo shoots and pitch meetings aplenty.
The NFL Network was obviously on hand for the who’s who of NFL rookies, and a reporter cornered the typically reserved Mack into answering one simple question: “Who are you looking forward to sacking the most?”
Mack’s answer will please Raider Nation.
“I think that has to be Peyton (Manning),” Mack said. “Just thinking about it (excites me), you know what I mean?”
Mack has practiced with the first team at strongside linebacker, and defensive-minded head coach Dennis Allen plans to use him as a roving pass rusher. Mack’s efforts are critical to the Raiders competing against the pass-happy AFC West, which includes home-and-home series with Manning, San Diego’s Philip Rivers and Kansas City’s Alex Smith.
“Just playing against greatness,” Mack said, “is a goal of mine.”
