OAKLAND – Raiders defensive back TJ Carrie didn’t practice all week, without a football activity since suffering a chest injury returning a punt seven day ago at Chicago.

He was ruled out of Sunday’s home game against Denver on Friday’s official injury report, then upgraded to questionable on Saturday afternoon. Raiders trainers liked what they saw during pregame warm-ups, deeming him healthy enough to play in this AFC West clash.

That’s a big boost to an ailing Raiders secondary matching up against quarterback Peyton Manning and top receivers. It seems likely he’ll start at safety opposite Charles Woodson, who will play his third straight game with a shoulder injury.

David Amerson and DJ Hayden will start at cornerback, with Neiko Thorpe in during nickel and dime packages. Larry Asante will be the first reserve in at safety.

While Carrie was upgraded and eventually deemed active, other injured Raiders stayed out. Defensive lineman Denico Autry remains out with a concussion, and defensive tackle Justin Ellis is down again after suffering a setback with an ankle originally sprained in Week 1.

Taiwan Jones will miss a second straight week with a foot injury, leaving the team’s return duties to Roy Helu and possibly Amari Cooper.

In addition to Autry, Jones and Ellis, cornerback Dexter McDonald, offensive linemen Jon Feliciano and Matt McCants, and receiver Rod Streater are also inactive.

The Broncos have some injuries on their offensive line. Right tackle Ryan Harris will slide to left tackle in place of ailing starter Ty Sambrailo and reserve Michael Schofield will start at right tackle.
