The Raiders were a major player to retain running back Rashad Jennings. That is, until the New York Giants stepped in and stole him away.
Jennings tweeted that he’s headed to New York to sign with the Giants. Exact terms haven’t been ironed out, but the man who carried the Raiders running game in 2013 will leave for the East Coast.
Jennings really wanted to stay in Oakland, but the Raiders wouldn’t match a deal by proposed by the Giants worth much more than the Raiders original offer.
The 28-year-old started eight games for the Raiders last year, taking over as the team's featured back after injuries to Darren McFadden.
Jennings rushed 163 times for 733 yards and six scores, averaging 4.5 yards per carry. He added 36 receptions for 292 yards and didn't fumble all year.
Flying to the Big Apple tonight! Looking forward to signing the dotted lines with @Giants— Rashad Jennings (@RashadJennings) March 11, 2014
