The Raiders re-signed defensive tackle Pat Sims to a one-year contract on Friday morning, adding a big piece to a lacking area of the defensive front.

Sims’ agent announced the signing on Twitter. Contract terms were not immediately disclosed.

The Raiders hoped to bring Sims back in 2014, though the lineman wanted to test the open market in search of the best deal.

Sims will rotate in at the nose guard spot with second-year pro Stacy McGee. . The run stuffer was a powerful, yet inconsistent presence up front in 2013. Sims had 31 tackles and two sacks as a tackle in the base defense. His best game came at the San Diego Chargers, when he had 13 tackles and a sack.
