The Raiders value special teams contributors, even those who don’t directly fit into offensive or defensive game plans. They added Darren Bates and Brynden Trawick earlier in free agency. Then they re-signed linebacker and special teams contributor Korey Toomer on Sunday, his agents announced on Twitter.

Toomer was an exclusive rights free agent.

Toomer signed a one-year, $600,000 contract tender. He’s back in the fray just in time to participate in the Raiders offseason program, which starts on Monday at their Alameda practice facility.

Toomer signed with the Raiders just before midseason, and played 10 games in silver and black.

Toomer must compete for a roster spot during the offseason program and in training camp, and must stand out in the kicking game.

Toomer was with the Seattle Seahawks organization in 2012 and 2013, when Raiders defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. was in the Pacific Northwest.

He was with the St. Louis Rams in 2014 and part of 2015.

The Raiders recently signed restricted free agent offensive lineman Matt McCants and defensive lineman Shelby Harris, an exclusive rights free agent.
