ALAMEDA – The Raiders signed defensive tackle Daniel Muir on Wednesday morning.
The sixth-year veteran has 26 starts in 46 games, with 130 career tackles and half a sack. He played three games for the New York Jets in 2012. His best days came with the Colts, where he started from 2009-10.
There is no corresponding move to accompany the Muir signing. The team had 52 players on the 53-man roster.
Offensive lineman Jack Cornell, who was active Sunday against San Diego and released Monday, was re-signed to the practice squad.
The teamed worked out several players on Tuesday, including quarterbacks Pat White, David Carr and Trent Edwards, but used their vacant roster spot on Muir instead.
The Raiders could still add a veteran backup quarterback, but they’ll continue to evaluate current No. 2 Matt McGloin before making that decision. The team currently has two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. Rookie Tyler Wilson is on the practice squad.
