OAKLAND – Dennis Allen’s future with the Raiders has not been decided. Sunday’s season finale versus Denver will play a role in the head coach’s fate, but it is not the only factor weighing on owner Mark Davis’ final decision.
While an embarrassing loss to the Denver Broncos could change things, sources told CSN Bay Area the Raiders are expected to take some time in making a decision regarding Allen and his coaching staff. That time span could be a few days or more than a week.
Allen is one loss away from a second 4-12 record in two seasons as head coach, which has brought his job security into question. Allen has remained focused on playing out the season, while making a public case for progress. Entering Sunday’s game, the Raiders had lost five straight and seven of eight.
Davis preached patience in his only public comments – made to Bay Area News Group’s Tim Kawakami -- regarding Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie. McKenzie seems safe, but Davis said the season’s final stretch would have an impact in his decisions regarding his head coach.
