OXNARD -- Raiders tight end Nick Kasa was carted off the field during Tuesday's practice with a knee injury.

Head coach Dennis Allen said preliminary reports indicated that Kasa had torn his left anterior cruciate ligament after getting tangled up with Dallas cornerback Ryan Smith during a one-on-one drill.

"If that's the case, he would be done for the year," Allen said.

A source has indicated that a torn ACL is an accurate diagnosis, and that Kasa, whom the Raiders selected in the sixth round of the 2013 draft, will lose his second season in the NFL.

Knee injuries have thinned out the tight end corps considerably over the past week. Kasa is gone, and David Ausberry had what Allen termed a knee "procedure" last week. Allen declined to give an exact diagnosis, but Ausberry indicated Wednesday that it doesn't appear to be a long-term injury if his recovery goes according to plan.

He isn't coming back right away, meaning the Raiders will likely add a body in the coming days.

"That's something we have to look at," Allen said, "to see if we can add someone to the roster."
