The Raiders waived outside linebacker Martez Wilson on Tuesday afternoon, likely clearing space for Miles Burris. The second-year pro from San Diego State has reached the end of his 21-day practice window, and should be taken off the physically unable to perform list on Wednesday.
Burris has been on the PUP since training camp, slowly recovering from offseason knee surgery. He started practicing on Oct. 30, and while he missed a few sessions, he is ready to contribute to a solid linebacker corps.
Burris made 15 starts last season, and never missed time during the season with injury. He declined to go into detail about the procedure, but his rehab took much longer than expected.
Wilson barely played in four games with the Raiders. He had two tackles, a sack and a quarterback hit in 42 snaps.
