Raiders' Ward posts pictures suggesting he underwent procedure

Jihad Ward’s offseason program was cut short. The Raiders defensive lineman didn’t complete OTAs or participate in the team’s mandatory minicamp, though at the time the reason was uncertain.

Ward provided some insight on his absence, which seems to be injury related. He posted a photo of himself on Snapchat using a support scooter with a cast and bandage on his lower left leg and foot while wearing a hospital gown. According to a timeline in the photo, the picture was taken last month. It appears that Ward underwent a procedure on his leg, though Ward never formally states that fact.

The Raiders are counting on him to make strides in his second season and be a contributor on the interior defensive line. He had been working primarily with the first unit when involved in practice.

Head coach Jack Del Rio wasn’t asked about Ward specifically, but said he hoped to have a completely healthy roster by the start of training camp.
