JaMarcus Russell is looking for a second chance at an NFL career, and his planned pro day on Wednesday may have been a first glimpse at his potential.

Except that it's not going to happen anymore.

The former Raiders' No. 1 overall pick from the 2007 draft cancelled Wednesday's pro day during which he planned to throw to Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.

According to reports from last week, Russell is down from 308 pounds to 288 since working out with former 49ers quarterback Jeff Garcia.

Despite cancelling his pro day, Russell still has plans to work out for teams individually. Perhaps then it will become clear if the reports are true.
