ALAMEDA -- Raiders linebacker Sio Moore had his best game as a professional Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to team stats, the third-round pick from UConn had eight tackles -- two for losses -- 1.5 sacks and a quarterback hit, stats that indicate he made a major impact in the 21-18 victory at Oakland Coliseum.

The effort was rewarded on Friday, when he was named the NFL’s rookie of the week.

The Raiders believe this could be a sign of better play to come.

“Sio’s starting to do everything faster,” Raiders defensive coordinator Jason Tarver said. “The biggest thing that Sio’s doing right now is how he’s working in practice. … Sio’s feeling it in practice and translating it to the game, and that’s good. It’s good for us, and it’s good for him.”
