DENVER – Raiders linebacker Sio Moore guaranteed that he would play Monday night against the Broncos despite suffering a concussion in a car accident the day before.

Ah, the optimism of youth.

The rookie stood little chance after a scary moment on the way to Raiders HQ prior to the team’s trip to Denver. He was required to pass the concussion-related tests mandated by the NFL roughly 24 hours after initial diagnosis, which was highly unlikely.

Kaluka Maiava will start in his place.

Left guard Lucas Nix was also ruled inactive with an ankle injury suffered last week against Jacksonville. Andre Gurode was going to start there whether Nix was active or not.

Quarterback Matt McGloin, strong safety Tyvon Branch, offensive tackle Menelik Watson, offensive lineman Antoine McClain and receiver Juron Criner were also ruled inactive.

While the Raiders lost two starters to injuries, they caught a break in that regard. Denver ruled out veteran cornerback Champ Bailey, who was questionable with a foot injury.

In addition to Bailey, quarterback Zac Dysert, running back C.J. Anderson, corner Quentin Jammer, guard Chris Kuper, tackle Winston Justice and tight end Joel Dressen were ruled inactive by the Broncos.
