Jason Tarver could be slapped with a five-figure fine for "flipping off" officials on Sunday.

OAKLAND – Jason Tarver’s temper got the better of him, and it might hit him in the pocketbook.

The Raiders defensive coordinator gave officials the middle finger during the third quarter of Sunday’s 21-18 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers and was caught swearing on camera while making a gesture many consider obscene.

Tarver was upset over a penalty originally assessed to cornerback Mike Jenkins. Jenkins was flagged for hitting a defenseless receiver after using force to dislodge the football, but the penalty was eventually rescinded.

The coaching staff was irate at the time and Tarver broke out the middle finger.

The act is typically punished with a five-figure fine. According to Pro Football Talk, then Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Chuck Cecil was fined $40,000 after giving officials the bird in 2010.
