I want to come back more now than ever. I want to win here, and I plan on winning here again.
Charles Woodson

OAKLAND – Free safety Charles Woodson said Thursday that he wanted to remain a Raider next season. Sunday’s 56-31 embarrassment against Kansas City didn’t change his mind. Neither will similar results against San Diego and Denver.

Woodson wants to help turn the franchise around, and remains committed to the cause.

“I want to come back more now than ever,” Woodson said. “I want to win here, and I plan on winning here again. This season isn’t what we would’ve liked it to be. I really believe in what’s going to happen going forward and the changes that are going to be made around here. I want to be a part of it.

“I’m more excited than ever to start working on the next phase.”

Before Thursday’s pronouncement, Woodson was expected to be a one-year wonder. The Raiders seemed like a quick stop to re-establish his worth before heading to a contender. A disappointing finish has only strengthened his resolve.

“Don’t get me wrong. I don’t feel good about our record,” Woodson said. “Nobody likes to lose, and I don’t accept losing. I just feel like we’re going to be all right. I want to be a part of this. I hope the feeling’s mutual. I want to get another shot at turning this thing around.”
