The Sharks' lengthy injured list just got longer, and now features it's most significant member to date.

Logan Couture will have surgery on his hand on Wednesday morning and is expected to miss the next three to four weeks, a source told CSNCalifornia.com on Monday.

The news is not a complete surprise, as Couture has lately missed several Sharks practices, including on Friday when he skated aggressively on his own but left before the team started drills. According to the source, he has been dealing with the hand issue for several weeks, and recently Couture was seen wearing a brace on his right hand/wrist area.

A hopeful for the Canadian Olympic team, Couture could still play in the games in Sochi, Russia, provided he does not miss more time than expected. The Sharks play their final game before the break on Feb. 7, more than four weeks after Couture's scheduled surgery. The Canadian Olympic roster will be announced on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. PST.

Couture endured a career-long 11-game goal scoring drought from Dec. 5 - 27, but responded to score one goal in four straight games from Dec. 29 - Jan. 4, a career-high.

Couture has 14 goals and 21 assists for 35 points, and has played in all 43 Sharks games this season.

The 24-year-old Couture joins Tomas Hertl (right knee surgery), Raffi Torres (right knee surgery), Martin Havlat (lower body), Adam Burish (back surgery), Tommy Wingels (upper body) and Tyler Kennedy (flu) on the injured list.

The Sharks visit Nashville on Tuesday night, wrapping up a three-game road trip.
