SAN JOSE, Calif. -- It takes a considerable amount of pain to keep someone such as Kimmo Timonen out of the lineup.

The Flyers' defenseman, who had an Iron Man streak going a while ago, missed his first game of the season Saturday in Los Angeles with an aching left foot.

He was hit by a puck blocking a shot against Detroit on Jan. 28.

“He needs rest,” said Flyers coach Craig Berube. “No sense even putting him out for practice.”

Timonen is questionable for Monday’s game against the Sharks, but as Berube said, “You never know. He might show up and say, 'I wanna play.'”
