SAN JOSE – Sharks defenseman Scott Hannan was hurt on Friday night against Colorado, taking an apparent blow to the head from the Avalanche’s Patrick Bordeleau late in the first period.

Visibly wobbly, Hannan skated back to the bench and was seen chatting with team trainer Ray Tufts. He did not return for the second period.

Earlier this season, Hannan, 35, missed seven games in January after taking an elbow to the head from Detroit’s Danny Cleary in a game on Jan. 9. He played on Jan. 11 against Boston before coming out of the lineup.

Sharks coach Todd McLellan said Scott Hannan would not travel with the team to Phoenix for Saturday's regular season finale, due to an upper body injury.

The Sharks were playing against Colorado without top defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic, who was given the night off to rest.
