In the first period of the Sharks-Capitals game on Tuesday night, the Sharks’ Mike Brown and the Capitals’ Aaron Volpatti dropped the gloves in one of the more fierce and entertaining fights of the Sharks' season.

Both players ended up bloody, with Volpatti going to the dressing room immediately after they were through, and not returning for the rest of the period.

Brown has eight major penalties on the season, tied for eighth in the league. On Dec. 23 against Colorado, he pounded the Avs’ Cody McLeod, leaving the defenseman a bloody mess.
