Antti Niemi was honored by the NHL as its Third Star of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

The Sharks’ starting goaltender won all three of his starts last week, including a 41-save shutout against the Rangers on Sunday in a 1-0 win. Earlier, Niemi made 19 saves in a 6-2 Sharks victory over Toronto last Tuesday, and returned to the net on Friday with 35 saves in a 4-3 win over the Islanders.

Niemi is tied for the league lead in wins with Pittsburgh’s Marc-Andre Fleury and Colorado’s Semyon Varlamov (34), and since the Olympic break, the Finland native is 5-1-0 with a 1.84 goals-against average and .936 save percentage.

Columbus goalie Sergei Bobrovsky was named the first star despite a 4-3 shootout loss to the Sharks on Thursday, while New York forward Kyle Okposo was second.

The Sharks have won six straight games, and open a three-game homestand on Tuesday vs. Florida.
