Executive Vice President and GM Doug Wilson announced today that the San Jose Sharks have signed LW Brad Winchester to a one-year contract.

Winchester spent the 2010-2011 season with the St. Louis Blues and Anaheim Ducks, registering 16 points and 114 penalty minutes in 76 games.

In his seven-year career, he has spent time with Edmonton, Dallas, St. Louis, Anaheim and now San Jose.

We feel that our training camp was as competitive as it ever has been and Brad came into it and earned a spot on our roster, stated Wilson. He brings a rugged, veteran presence to our lineup and he does whatever it takes to be a good teammate.

The Sharks open the regular season Saturday night, October 8 at home against the Phoenix Coyotes.
