McLellan said the injury is related to Minnesotas Justin Falk checking Clowe face-first into the boards on Jan. 10. Clowe did, however, play in the Sharks next three games in Winnipeg, Columbus and Chicago while wearing a cage, although he removed the cage early against the Blackhawks.
In 42 games, Clowe has nine goals and 17 assists for 26 points and 54 penalty minutes.
