SAN JOSE – Sharks goalie Alex Stalock broke the franchise record for shutout streak by a goaltender on Monday, surpassing Evgeni Nabokov’s mark.

Stalock, 26, entered the Sharks-Kings game with back-to-back shutout wins over Florida and Winnipeg. He surpassed Nabokov’s record of 171 minutes and 19 seconds shortly after the midway point of the second period against Los Angeles.

The streak ended at 178:55, when Anze Kopitar scored late in the second. It was the first goal Stalock allowed since 4:01 of the third period by Michal Roszival, in a game at Chicago on Jan. 5.

Nabokov's streak occurred from January 20-31, 2009.
