Will Carter play vs. Sharks?

The Los Angeles Kings could be without their top late-season acquisition when they play the Sharks in a home-and-home to close out the regular season. San Jose visits Los Angeles on Thursday and hosts the Kings on Saturday.

Jeff Carter is nursing an ankle injury and was recently spotted in a walking boot and crutches.

LA Kings insider Rich Hammond writes:
When is Jeff Carter going to play again? Nobody knows for certainincluding Carterbut it seems plausible that Carters return would depend upon the Kings situation. According to what Dean Lombardi said yesterday, it seems as though Carters ankle is going to be sore for a while.

Since acquiring Carter on Feb. 23, the Kings offense seemed to find its rhythm. In 16 games with the talented winger in the lineup, the Kings average 3.06 goals-per-game. In the other 64, Los Angeles has just 2.16 per-game.

Carter, who recorded a hat trick against the Sharks in his last game with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Feb. 21, has a combined 21 goals and 13 assists in 55 games this season.

The Kings (40-27-13, 93 points) lead the Pacific Division by one point over the Sharks (41-29-10, 92 points), who won in Dallas Tuesday night.
