Wingels honored, Niittymaki loses

The American Hockey League honored Worcester Sharks forward Tommy Wingels on Monday morning, when it named him as the ReebokAHL Player of the Week.

The 23-year-old recorded four goals and two assists for six points and 6 rating in four games for Worcester last week. Hes tied for second on the team in scoring with 19 points (11g, 8a).

Wingels played in three games for San Jose in October when he made the opening night roster out of training camp, recording one assist on opening night before he was reassigned on October 22.

In other Worcester news, goaltender Antero Niittymaki fell to 1-1 on Sunday in a 3-1 Sharks loss to Manchester, making 25 saves on 28 shots.

Niittymaki, who made 26 saves in a 5-1 win on Friday, is there on a conditioning assignment.
