Why Lowe believes Warriors trading Draymond ‘will not happen'

It appears that Draymond Green is not going anywhere in the wake of his incident involving teammate Jordan Poole.

Before the Warriors' 123-109 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday to kick off the 2022-23 NBA season, ESPN senior writer Zach Lowe told former coach Jeff Van Gundy the most likely outcome.

"Everything I've heard is they are not trading Draymond -- it's just not going to happen," Lowe said Tuesday on the most recent episode of "The Lowe Post" podcast. "They're trying to win the championship and they're just going to try to ride this out unless something drastic happens like the team just falls apart and they're terrible."

Lowe continues to say that the 32-year-old will remain in the Bay Area as the Warriors look to repeat this season.

"They're trying to win," Lowe concluded.

Although Green and Poole looked comfortable during the Warriors' opening night win over the Lakers, there is no denying that there is a level of iciness between the two, which Lowe noted.

So far, various Warriors players, from Kevon Looney to Klay Thompson, and media personalities all have shared their thoughts on the situation and explained that altercations happen "all the time" in practice

What's more, Warriors owner Joe Lacob explained to Bonta Hill, Chris Mullin and Festus Ezeli on "Warriors Pregame Live" why the veteran was not suspended for punching his 23-year-old teammate.

"I have to be honest, really honest, I was not all that flustered by it," Lacob said. "It's obviously a serious situation. No one wants to see that happen in any workplace, no question about it. And I know Draymond knows that. He's apologized to the team and to management and to me and everybody.

"It was a mistake but he's earned a lot of equity over a long period of time with us."

Although Green claimed not to know just how viral his punch went, it's clear his lapse in judgment had reverberating effects.

At any rate, the Warriors are hoping to put this situation in the rearview mirror as quickly as possible as they try to repeat as champions.
