Warriors start Game 4 with historically bad 3-point shooting

It was unusually chilly in the Bay Area on Monday, and that carried over into the Warriors' shooting to start Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals at Chase Center.

The Warriors couldn't buy a bucket from 3-point range for almost the entire first half against the Memphis Grizzlies, missing their first 15 shots from long distance before Otto Porter Jr. broke the lid on the hoop with 3:24 remaining in the second quarter.

The Warriors' 0-for-15 from deep to start the game is among the worst starts to a playoff game in recent NBA history.

The last team to start with a stretch as long as the Warriors was the 2010-11 Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks.

Per Sportsradar, since 1997, the longest streak of missed 3-pointers to start a playoff game was 17 by the Miami Heat against New York Knicks in Game 3 of their 1999 first-round series.

The Warriors finished the first half 2-of-20 from 3-point range with the second one coming from Steph Curry. That happened to be Curry's 500th career playoff 3-pointer, making him the first player ever to reach that mark.

Of course, the Warriors didn't come close to the all-time playoff record for consecutive missed 3-pointers, which happened to come against them when the Houston Rockets clanked 27 straight 3-pointers in Game 7 of the 2018 Western Conference finals.

The good news for the Warriors is the 3-pointers started to fall at a slightly higher clip in the second half against the Grizzlies as they went 3-of-9 in the third quarter.
