The latest Baseball Hall of Fame inductions will be announced on Jan. 26th and, unfortunately, it appears Barry Bonds will once again fall short of ending his very long, tedious journey in Cooperstown.
Despite the controversy on whether or not Bonds is worthy of the honor, former MLB outfielder and 2003 All-Star Preston Wilson believes the Giants legend deserves a spot.
“In my opinion, yes, and it’s simply because this: He had three MVPs before he even moved to San Francisco,” Wilson said this week on NBC Sports Bay Area's "Balk Talk" podcast. “To me, you got three MVPs, you’re a Hall of Fame player.”

As of last week, Bonds appeared to be doing well with 74.2 percent of the votes, albeit with just 124 ballots publicly released. Although he needs 75 percent of the vote, a big drop is inevitable as all votes are tallied. That has happened every year of his eligibility.
Bonds will forever be linked to performance-enhancing drugs despite never testing positive, but Wilson said that shouldn’t matter when it comes to Bonds' prestigious career.

A total of seven MVP awards, 14 All-Star selections, 12 Silver Sluggers and two batting titles are just a fraction of what he offered the game. To this day, he still holds the all-time home run record with 762.
“As far as Barry is concerned, he’s a Hall of Famer no matter what,” Wilson says.
