Steph reveals incredible Tiger Woods story from '15 phone call

Steph Curry is a golf fanatic, and many believe he could have been a professional golfer if he decided to go that route.

So if he could play 18 holes with any person -- dead or alive -- who would it be?

"Tiger [Woods} for sure," Curry said this week on the "Huddle & Flow" podcast. "Kind of a hero of mine growing up. And to know all he's been through over the course of his career -- all the highs and lows. I feel like that would be an amazing 4-5 hours out there, to hear his story from his lens.

"I'd love to hear it from his words ... that would be my guy."

At this point, host Jim Trotter said: "I'm actually surprised you guys haven't linked up."

The Warriors superstar then told an amazing story that without question is the best thing you will hear all day or week or month or year perhaps.

"We've talked a couple times," Curry began. "He actually called me out of the blue back in 2015 during our playoff run -- in the second round against [the] Memphis [Grizzlies]. We were down [two games to one] and my PR director for the Warriors said, 'Hey, if this Florida number calls, you might want to answer it.' I was like, 'All right.'

"[Tiger] called me about an hour later and it was the biggest pep talk of all time -- just out of the blue. He spoke some life into our comeback during that round. I said, 'I'm ready for it. I know we're gonna get it done.' And he dropped the mic at the end of the call, he was like, 'Prove it,' and then just hung up [laughter].

'It doesn't get any better than that. He lit the fire under me for sure."

There are no words to describe how amazing all of that is. Truly beyond incredible.

And in case you forgot, Curry in that series vs. the Grizzlies averaged 21.3 points, 6.3 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals over the first three games, while shooting 39.7 percent from the field and 27.6 percent from beyond the arc.

In the Warriors' three wins after the phone call with Woods, the three-time NBA champion averaged 27.7 points, 6.7 assists, 7.0 rebounds and 2.7 steals, while shooting 44.4 percent overall and 51.4 percent from 3-point territory.

And yes, Golden State went on to win the title for the first time in 40 years.

Thank you Mr. Woods.
