Melvin names starters for ALDS Games 3, 4

As Manager Bob Melvin announced today that Brett Anderson will start Game 3 of the American League Division Series against Detroit tomorrow in Oakland. A.J. Griffin will get the starting assignment for a potential Game 4 Wednesday.

Melvin said this on 95.7 The Game earlier this morning regarding Anderson:

"Yeah, he will be starting, as long as he comes in this morning and everything's still intact, then he will be pitching tomorrow. We wanted to be careful and make sure each and every day that he's making some progress. I have not seen him yet today, I'm probably getting ahead of myself a little bit, but again, if he comes in, feels good, he will pitch tomorrow.

Anderson, who logged a 4-2 record and 2.57 ERA in six starts in 2012, missed most of the season recovering from Tommy John surgery. He was initially activated Aug. 21 and allowed only 29 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out 25 batters in 35.0 innings before his regular season ended when he strained his right oblique muscle Sept. 19. This will be his first game since his three-week rehab.RELATED: Brett Anderson game logsA.J. Griffin game logs
