SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers signed two experienced NFL defensive linemen on Wednesday as the club reported to training camp.

The club signed Cedric Thornton and Will Sutton to one-year contracts, while also signing offensive lineman JP Flynn to a two-year deal. To clear the three roster spots, the 49ers waived veteran defensive back Don Jones, and undrafted rookies, offensive lineman Jamar McGloster and defensive lineman Blaine Woodson.

Thornton has appeared in 89 games with 48 starts in his career. He spent five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, followed by one season apiece with Dallas and Buffalo. He has recorded 278 tackles, 7.5 sacks, six passes defensed, four fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles in his career.

Sutton, a third-round pick of the Chicago Bears in 2014, spent his first three seasons in Chicago. He appeared in 36 games with 18 starts. He recorded 82 tackles and seven passes defensed.

Flynn was a member of the team’s practice squad last season before sustaining a torn patellar tendon in November during practice.

Jones is a four-year NFL veteran who signed with the 49ers in March of 2017. He spent last season on injured reserve with a knee injury. McGloster and Woodson were signed with the 49ers after the draft and took part in the team's offseason program.
