Klay Thompson leaves Warriors-Suns out of caution; ankle sprain not serious

OAKLAND -- A sprained left ankle forced Klay Thompson to leave in the third quarter of the Warriors’ 123-103 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Monday night at Oracle Arena.

The sprain was described as mild, and Thompson could return to the Warriors' lineup Wednesday night, when the Washington Wizards come to town.

“He just told me he was fine,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “He said he could’ve gone back into the game. We’d taken him out for precautionary reasons.”

Thompson played 25 minutes, totaling 16 points (6 of 14 from the field, including 1 of 6 on 3-pointers), four assists, three rebounds and two blocks.
