Rodón's wife Ashley displeased with strike zone in Giants' win

Every MLB pitcher needs a partner who will tweet about missed strike calls while they’re on the mound.

Carlos Rodón doesn’t have to worry about that.

The Giants’ starter pitched another gem for his new team against the Colorado Rockies on Monday, giving up two runs in six innings and striking out 12 in the Giants' 8-5 win. But his wife, Ashley Rodón, certainly thought he should’ve gotten a few more calls.

And she had the receipts – from the very first pitch of the game.

Rodón’s opening pitch was a 92 mile-per-hour fastball that caught the inside corner, but home plate umpire Ted Barrett called it a ball. Ashley was ready, tweeting “Man, first pitch” with a screenshot of the MLB app’s pitch tracker showing the pitch in the strike zone.

In the second inning, Rodón walked Elias Diaz on four pitches, though three of them were in the strike zone.

“Hold me back,” Ashley tweeted.

Her next reveal came in the next inning, when she joked that Barrett and the Rockies’ Connor Joe were “besties” after another fastball that caught the inside corner wasn’t called.

And her final tweet was the grandest of all, joking that she was starting to think that “someone has money on this game” after a missed strike call on a pitch to C.J. Chron.
