The rich get richer. On Thursday, the Yankees reportedly made an in-division trade to acquire a needed arm to their starting rotation.

According to multiple national reports, the Yankees are adding lefty J.A. Happ. In return, the Yankees are sending the Blue Jays infielder Brandon Drury and prospect Billy McKinney.

Happ, 35, was named to the All-Star Game for the first time this season. Through 20 starts, Happ is 10-6 with a 4.18 ERA and has 130 strikeouts in 114 innings pitched. He will be a free agent at the end of the year.

McKinney, 23, originally was drafted by the A's No. 24 overall in the 2013 MLB Draft. Oakland then traded him to the Chicago Cubs with Addison Russell, Dan Straily and cash in exchange for Jason Hammel and Jeff Samardzija in 2014. Two years later, McKinney was traded from the Cubs to the Yankees.

McKinney made his MLB debut this season with the Yankees, going 1-for-4 in two games played. McKinney is batting just .227 this season in Triple-A but has 13 home runs.

Drury is just 25 years old and under team control for three more seasons. He has appeared in just 18 games with the Yankees this season and hit a lowly .176. In two seasons prior with the D'backs, Drury hit .275 with 29 home runs.

The Yankees currently are 5.5 games behind the Red Sox in the AL East and 5.5 ahead of the A's for the top wild card spot.
