to work with them and I can't wait to get him here. Cal Bears did a great job in the state of California -- you build this program to try to get it back to prominence. How important is it going to be for the cal Bears to stay in state you get some of his great talent. -- the critical there really is. You know we're gonna do a good job first of all the Bay Area and that's going to be very very important for us to to get the players out of the day that we feel like that are program in -- we've got. Got to develop. Our relationships in the state California continue to grow assuming. The state has so many great high school football players. In other great athletes they're well coached they come from very good programs and and you know it all starts at stake for us to get thing about cal as the brand sell so well the state and also -- on national level as well so. You know we're gonna have a chance to to recruit some national kids. The -- again our -- trillion -- -- how well we we were Christian California . You have some -- into talent rich states Louisiana and Texas were you able to open any lines this year I know he didn't have a lot of time. Oh were you able to get started at least for the future and those two key states. Yeah I think so especially in Texas we were able assigned to kids at Texas it really. That the cal profile they're both very good students. They were kids that there were interest in cal and cal get a great education obviously very good football players as well. The state of Louisiana you know we really didn't hit that hard we just didn't have an opportunity to get -- our hands on guys that that we felt like fit academically this year. Go get an earlier start on this on this guys next year and there's a said earlier California is going to be our primary focus because there are some great players thing. Did you ever considered taken a look at

coached what was said the most exciting thing for you about the cal job. But just the resources -- You know part of a chance to be part of the number one public institution the United States I think you know a chance to play in the greatest conference in the US and and -- to coach in these great facilities and so. You know like increase because city California uses great opportunity and this -- so many positives about Berkeley and in the University of California . Your name was linked to several other opportunities what is the process been like for your family as as well as yourself. What's been tough for me it's that that is a tough process and you know there's sometimes it takes longer for all the pieces a lineup that. But as you said earlier this was this was the job that attracted me from day one and -- -- -- here's a great fit for me in my family. Well with the phone call -- -- -- bike when you told him you're taking the cal job. Yeah he was excited MED share a lot of the same sentence either that this is a place where you can win and until championships and and in -- family and so we're. We're just so thankful for the opportunity here and excited about the future but. Under you Louisiana Tech led the nation in scoring described the the offense -- offensive style for cal fans are helping me get this program back on track. -- a wide open fast paced offense that you know relies on run in football and throwing the football and we try to do both well. A lot of people have a preconceived notion it's a run first offense or pass first offense and really. Offense is gonna try to take advantage of matchups we've gotten and personnel advantages that we've gotten. And so we tried try to be simple try to play fast and try to make sure we can excuse that I level. And finally did you ever think we need to -- -- coaching on this field against California Arizona. That should one -- have the keys to the program.
