And welcome to chronicle live in north title discussion. Jason Campbell was there as well the raider quarterback glory days. Lowest birthdays hair. Better wide receiver. I wanna start out just more about you guys are in the league now and when you get drafted into the NFL Langston. Go back to when you were chosen the 2002 I mean they get -- every single thing. They wanna know your upbringing what you like what you just like they bring you out they -- in all different types of things is. Is sexual persuasion to they danced around the issue was and ever couched as it ever brought up addressed in any manner. I certainly don't remember it when I went to the -- on her for all -- for all of you that don't know. I think somebody is much like a meat market but -- go up there you're you're measured dugard. You know you have to run you have to John. You perform basic reforms in the NFL scouts and owners. And you know they do us and you know every single question on planet. I don't ever remember coming out you know them the more you know. The more it -- people might come into you know the NFL. You know you never know I -- this question might not start in the past. I've ever Dez Bryant it was a number one draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys this year Jason. He was asked by the Miami Dolphins general manager about his mother. So anyway they're gonna draft your number one they're gonna pay you millions of dollars so they -- -- and all facets of your upbringing was that ever because you were number one draft pick coming out of Auburn the Redskins it all five. Was that ever talked dispute discussed it anyway would you. Now we never talked about it what -- always talked about was baby mama drama. These are guys -- itself supported -- you don't McNamara writes a woman that I. But. I think it into what they needed drafted you know early and talk to the end and -- -- do -- do research. You know from your whole life -- over the first grade teacher second grade teacher may ask questions about you gonna wanna note along militant guy -- wrote a -- to you. Are you positive mind began. I was definitive data maintained they want is the winner. And organic -- I didn't put in every you know their team win and and that's fill the stands out big on drafting a. One regardless. America you're the one who was drafted most recently in the NFL has this new thing -- right after your chosen in the NFL your rookie. They take you to a rookie symposium and they get via a lecture on all types of things drugs alcohol investment would stay away from women don't hang with them. Is is homosexuality. Or hang -- -- certain is that ever does the league ever prepare you as -- and -- -- that concept. Just like business you know it's -- about anything in saving only stand. That is beginning thing about you know homosexuality. The main thing it's always about losing on the women that you date you know six strokes. Close scenes you know we did a lot of reenacting. A lot of you know role -- you know asking questions like what what would you do when does this decision if you would begin a car with friends. Smoking we you know -- in mind how would you react you know homosexuality never came up never was. You know a discussion as a rookie symposium. You know dramatic series young kids as young kids and can -- him. Is no big deal that. They have to my generation it's a bigger deal and and fortunately Glenn Burke. Was born in a time when it was a bigger deal you guys are cross section of age -- mark you're the youngest wanted to. Twice three -- you're 28. -- you're thirty once you kind of experience different things. It to your generation Langston is it not that big of a deal or maybe in my generation in earlier generations. Homosexuals in the workplace was new homosexuals as sports certainly was no but maybe today -- we're making too big of a deal of our generation. You know I think two or generation. You know homosexuality as real bad bad. Got your generation -- -- sick kid. Like a city that tell our generation. You don't homosexuality as. Sort of lost its I guess taboo in this compares him. When he compares with yours. I think the issue that you're gonna find is. You know guys that grew up in certain areas myself. You know -- in the Bay Area so you know I was always sort of used to. You know the Castro district -- mean it's you know it's not a big deal to me whereas you know swoon might come from you know small town midwest. You know it's it's a culture shock to them I think you know sports being a cross section of America you're gonna get you know a guy who hasn't had. You know that that exposure and also and he's thrown into -- locker room and he might be sitting next to you know that openly gay player and how's he gonna react. You know in -- you can react playing next to him. Mark you're from Florida so estimated that is that big of a deal. From where you're from an -- generation here you grow up -- it was comical to shock for me you know -- took -- tour of the city of San Fran when I got drafted in. You know worldly Castro Valley image you know as plan BJ Flanagan and whatnot -- you know. -- -- Now bias anyway you know so I just is that before oil was you know and you know does -- -- -- -- cultures and you know it is what it is really. What do you think chase is it is it something that our generation has a harder time dealing with the yours. I think grown up in are you my immersed that it you know from the from the sudden you know forward from million hear much about it. You know who's always talked respect the person besides you. And pointing out thinking and sports and -- fan today is in the locker room you try to not -- anything this controversy. And because you don't want -- have anything you know separate team more divided team in. And it is that if they're doing right if someone's gay but just the fact that you never live what goes on home guarantees up in -- -- Because no one he's -- -- -- -- is going on the house because. Pillow talking to separate football team whether someone feels like they don't like this personally this personal like that person. You know you can't -- -- on a team in order to win in order to win we ought to have one common goal and that's to go I try to have success together. And I think the main thing is you have to respect each other and not overstep each other boundaries. You know and we all look at this issue is so what how how it might divide a locker room but but is there a point worry could possibly galvanize. The locker room where you know you guys are Brothers no matter where -- from a you get -- -- huddled together in your market the place you guys are leaders are all together. You're trying to common goal and a somebody says something to what are your teammates that you find derogatory now you all turn out. The cause of the question is. In -- -- you -- privately we. None of us know when the media the world knew what you guys -- in your locker room. That a guy your team was gay and somebody and the Denver Broncos sets up -- and you're the exactly got to go beat the hell out of that -- -- galvanize. A sports team to come together and not divide want as my question. While I mean you know like so we our team and I'm an only child but I do consider. You know these guys like Brothers and I never had that experience and in this sort -- today. You know so of course you know I would defend you know that person -- in -- -- -- just expected. You know by another team or even you know outside source you know such as the media or or you know society. You know. Those smiling you know you'd defensive. -- You don't want to get this guy had big guys. Don't wanna get a match. Jason we thank you for your your -- your candidates difficult situation to be contemporary players discussing this issue which can -- tackling the Raiders won three straight games. You know by Wakefield and -- It's. Back to. Louis Murphy wide receiver the Oakland Raiders. Jason Campbell quarterback in the raiders' Langston Walker. Left and right tackle now -- -- the latest thinks it's not like on the night.
