We have the Charles Schwab cup championship going on at at Harding park that we do wanna look at and studio a guy who needs no introduction to an introduction to -- golfing fans out there. The great Bernard longer is in the Bay Area welcomes your howry then -- wonderful things have minutes of pleasure visiting California and you're gonna play at Harding park coming up in the Charles Schwab cup championship league has been practicing for a couple of days. Tell me about the course has been completely rebuilt in the -- there last year. After the president's trophy that was a great event -- the course how's the course play for you. Yeah I think the course is in excellent shape the greens are fantastic very fast and it's a great lay outs in weather's good. I would have four days of wonderful golf because some of the best golfers. From the over fifty stops there radio flower -- money list on the Champions Tour you know players like. Tom Watson and Fred Couples. The the best of the best out on our -- -- should be fun. And -- truck park is never looked better after hosting the presidents cup in 2009 imagine Fred Couples. He's the guy you're look at -- is precisely 582. Points behind you in the current points standings you get over 32 what I think you have to. Finished tied for fourth and -- insure this the final event of the year does that change your mindset going into this tournament. They can -- -- -- them they'll have to win the whole thing but if I finish in the top three that'll be good enough to win that the Cubs. But certainly in the back of my in my mind but this I go out start the tournament I've just gonna try to play as good as I can but I believe Freddie has to win. And if he wins I have to be probably fourth or better to -- still when the season long Schwab cup winners like the FedEx Cup on the PGA tour. And the winner gets a million dollar bonus for -- -- years so that's a nice pay out of the end his season. So how are you playing right now specifically how are you -- because and you think it your game -- game is so solid if it's off a little bit that your putting stroke -- -- putting them. Well us -- -- -- but all they -- son Antonio played very well from tee to green but working on my putting I think I know what's. What went wrong the last week or two so hopefully be better this week. You know what they remember about view is struggling a little bit the Ryder Cup flooding in -- change what's the long. The long putter are you still using that what what does that the the power of the of the mind. Over the short game in particular -- -- you're obviously great skill player great hand but the putting Elena just gets into people's minds. It's it's called the Gibson yeah golf -- I've had its three or four times over in my career and changed groups three or four times. Over the last 35 years. It's a horrible -- I don't wish it on my biggest enemy but you know you gotta find a way to get the ball in the hole and the last thirteen years have used the long putter and it's been working out fairly decent most of time. You are from Germany by far your country's most successful golfer -- about your your up bringing your brother wasn't a player riding your caddie kept hanging around him a little bit. I my brother was a caddie and he brought home some pocket money you know -- on the weekend of the -- and when he went up to two with two caddie and some money and when I was about -- I want it to earn some money to us it took me along and fell in love with a sports fell in love with money is well. -- know is on -- like you know five Deutsche marks which was like two dollars is something for the day but. It was fun and we had a great time and then I became an assistant teaching pro. And when I was eighteen I decided to the time I look on the tour first in Europe and then over here and never looked back so been very blessed over the years to. Make your career out of it. Had a magnificent career with a couple of masters championships -- tell me about. The competition now on the Champions Tour is at the same when you were playing as a younger man is it still that level of competition that you had when you're playing. It is very much I was surprised when I joined the Champions -- about three years ago. How many good players there's not competitive they are. You know some people single was just the old man's tour and it's just having fun we are having fun. But everybody out there is a champion otherwise they wouldn't be that is on the 78 players playing every week. And this thousands who would like to be out there on this tour so becomes very competitive thin and very tough on the scores will show that week after week. Many have Freddie couples and Tom Watson guys that are challenging for majors so the level competition obviously is supreme. Mr. -- great to make sure you look fantastic good luck this weekend do you enjoy the Bay Area elementary check out the the giants' parade coming. -- there I was actually here a couple of months ago sightseeing and I don't do that very often but we decided come here for five days and look at the city in the -- and it was a lot of fun. A lot like Europe the hills of San Francisco the red Bernard -- joining us in studio.
