I have the right Alex Smith's 26 completions of the Qwest Field on Sunday -- course -- Davis. The most for a football team was targeted the most Delanie Walker also very active early in the game took a three of his four. Target not a surprise is that ended with the niners last year was 78 receptions and tied an all time they record. Or receiving touchdowns from a tight end -- shatter the all time record by excited about trying to -- drivers. Subject tonight is. Vernon Davis who joins us live from what Santa Clara just off the practice field first of all -- congratulations on your new contract last time you and I spoke I asked Jeff. Are going to be able to get that done before. This season starts and you guys got it done the day before the season started. We did -- it it feels good to have it done family you know men out of for life and that's the good thing. And those numbers are good I can see why you smiled in five years 37 mil 23 million guaranteed a slightly more in all categories that end and Antonio Gates got. When he signed his new year a new deal in July. -- what was that the benchmark viewing your agent of the niners where we're looking at it just gets slightly beyond that. Antonio Gates have become the highest paid tight end in the pro football. Well look at all of its. My agent you know we talked about it we agreed on the numbers and for me I just want to get it done it had been today. You know we are happy you know I'm happy that I'm here and -- nine. All right so you're already got the contract on you played your first game you went back and analyze your play. On Sunday I thought they kept he had quite a bit to block they usually just outside of the rookie tackle Anthony Davis at right tackle. If they get out and catching eight for 73 how did you assessed your your overall first performance on Sunday in Seattle. Well I'll. You know we made a lot of mistakes -- -- that's the problem that we head you know hurt us and we got to go into this game Monday night. You know with a lot of swagger you know we got to play. Better than them we got to come out explosive and we got to play fast. You guys did make a lot of mistakes and so much has been made of the play calling and I do wanna ask you about that in just a moment but. You did not execute well at all in the door that says the team to get a play on Monday night they they don't have that many plays they have a simplified. Actual playbook but they sugar -- along with a variety of formations but they execute. Expertly. Is that why you were agitated in this in this -- the pre season that had that -- -- -- Michael Crabtree right before that. Final pre season game against San Diego that you just sense that you when your offensive teammates were not getting enough reps on the practice field in the game. And what happened in Seattle was gonna happen. -- you know I was just being a leader you know there was some things that Michael was doing that in light and I wanted to address the the the problem. And is that -- You know he wasn't very you know you can't. Can't talk about someone -- you know if they hurt they ended because you don't know play it was just. You know little misunderstanding. That the immediate thought you were agitated because he didn't played any any of the pre season games so it sounds like. There's something above and beyond Michaels BF overall behavior around the team that bit agitated gives that's safe to say. Now he's an awesome kid I love Michael to death you know he comes -- work you know he works hard practice hard. He's just a guy do one in the locker room but he would just had a misunderstanding we got to correct it. You know my goes back in practice come back to practice. Here and you know plan together. Parent I tell me about the play calling changes I think Jimmy started to be up in the press box level Ellis may have left guard on his wrist or not but at the bottom line is that when you guys. Break the huddle are you gonna do -- -- enough time to get up the line of scrimmage is what I saw was you guys have a lot of free. Snap motion in your game what time you went in motion -- like two seconds on the play clock and obviously it's going to be a delay game penalty are you gonna break that huddle. -- 1512 seconds or so and get up on the line where you have time to run your offense smoothly. Yes we are gonna break the huddle fast so that we get up to the line of scrimmage as give the ball snapped. And we know that we have to do it in order to make plays and get our playmakers the ball so we are causes of that. Conscious of that and this week you will see that. And you are one of the premier. Playmakers on this offense to be sure now Gregg Williams they did a defensive coordinator the Saints as the reputation for being doctor heat. He blitzes all the time. But I I would think did you guys have got to get this team with a big plays and score a lot we'll see -- your defense does. But this is pro football's highest scoring offense -- has been that way the last couple years is your offensive mentality this week a little more than just move the change. We gotta get in the end zone and score against this football team to win. We have to make big plays and US Louisville work annoying. All week in practice and we know that we have to hit them hard you know initially and that's we're gonna do we just gonna make plays get up playmakers the ball. And just keep the chains move and a score touchdowns. Now Frank Gore certainly a playmaker but you are the premier playmaker that offensives on Monday Night Football you've always -- occasions averted a thanks for your time -- alive and good luck on -- that against the New Orleans Saints. Prospects haven't.
