Okay. Okay. That's just over a block -- rendition of -- -- tonight we are on the road from -- -- plaza in downtown Oakland the Raiders are broken training camp in Napa. It has backed up football -- raider nation in celebration and David turned out by at that thousands welcome to chronicle live presented by auto trader Jack I'm Greg Papa with you from downtown Oakland the Raiders defense last year. It was okay of course there -- problems stopping it. The run they would like to get better this year and all categories gave up almost 44 points a game last year directly. 23. In at 32 team NFL total defense. Towards the bottom of the rush defense but they do have a lot of very best pass defense as a -- football deflected two years ago they ranked number one and a major reason why I think he. -- we call this place Franken -- plaza technically it is that name that potentially Oakland City Hall plaza -- bring in the mayor of the city of Oakland did not de Haas. So Oaxaca right now -- good they don't Google now you -- you will remain in his own blood will be better than I did you will have been Bill Romanowski a former Raiders alongside pro bowler and that's Super Bowl champion our robot. -- the mayor Greg and Jim because of our guys are gonna share -- sat -- Raiders post game live coming got cozy and one question -- -- -- who would strike Igawa. I have no idea what. Acknowledged plastic. Figure out how the city councilman here the longest running City Council and an assist these cities history thirty years is so great turnout today not -- here when they had this -- here in downtown Oakland that great day for the Raiders they bring it down to out of the city of Oakland -- feisty young kids everywhere it's your family friendly yeah. Yeah event has. Has got to just struck a chord with you guys did not get the football by being here yeah -- get a little cramped up like it's game day. Absolutely I mean in the the people out you know Oakland community I think it's. It's great to have it here at the coliseum it was it was fun but I mean haven't -- right in the heart of the fans next to get to come around and and and see what we're doing and and and -- that the product that opened up down I think it's great for the media not. Was in the coliseum you got to be practicing with -- little patch of grass here but I don't think coach -- -- -- usually -- -- now we are gonna talk to coach table coming up later rounds. Angela I'm Zack Miller will also be visiting with the Richard Seymour but I wanna get your thoughts on training. Yeah that you guys were in Napa a long time you went on the 27 day in July a little over four weeks. What did you guys get done in Napa this year. Good you know we were there a long time that we started. Yeah trying to go through some walk -- for the first or so days so it wasn't. Speed the whole time but I think it was great -- you know within the things that hue Jackson in the offensive that it would have to put together and just the Saints. That we've seen in -- the confidence level and how that's grown it's not only help them it's helped the defense you have to play a lot better that's been great. Although I I didn't notice more live drills this year than I've seen Tomb Raider team that in years is that is that accurate you guys now bye -- and it actually taken a. Running backs to the ground speak to that and -- Romo how much is that done in the NFL these days. And and yeah you're absolutely right but a lot of that was good you know impromptu. You know how guys that you get excited and and they just wanna start practice and didn't it turns into that tackling drill. When it was never supposed to happen after there was this -- to win back to don't have as Romo practiced. Well it is still it's competing every debt right because. Practice it's not practice. You're performing and it's and that's EI knew each and every day. Compete and when you have healthy competition on both sides ultimately create the winning entire. -- who's to know whether your guy you Connecticut judge the defense so I know it's early on but as a guy who played hard on the defensive side made those big hits. How is his current Raiders can kick it out well number one you gotta look at. You know snacks make it easy when you get to the quarterback and makes it easy because like there's newcomers don't -- -- black. Absolutely I mean yeah the biggest thing in the end if we don't want a blitz. We've shown that we have a -- -- And the fact that we've already had by. The rookie and the newcomers that have come into this could be. That's and let let's talk about some of these young guys starting with number 99 Lamarr Houston flashed the first series on defense and -- people's artillery. Romo twice I got this guy play deep tackle him on scenarios it is not looked like a rookie and now. He doesn't NN and he's the guy and it's still -- and about the game of football. Adjusted -- a constant -- you. -- -- -- inside of him and you know he can go inside -- defense. Tackle come out -- defense prevent is probably the quickest defensive linemen that we have self you can help with Ella. His effervescent aluminum shaved his head didn't hit you on prior can't. -- going out there the middle linebacker Rolando McClain isn't always intriguing to me -- your linebacker where you ask a rookie to comment -- I know he's a smart guy and he ran the -- David's defense that ban but it's tough to have that green dot in the NFL and get all these veterans like. Tell you where to go in and Seymour were -- -- I mean they're -- they're very concerned. They have a rookie -- quarterback of the defense right away. You know is that there's a definite there's a bit of concern doing -- because. Again they came from college you don't know how he's gonna -- this into the NFL but. Boy whoever he was whipping college taught him well because as the guy that grass. The speed of the NFL well and he understands that this and I as a rookie I didn't have to go in there that early I don't know if Romo did -- this guy has been. Been doing pretty good. The other one day and -- that does the little things like getting back. It is pass drops well -- in one inning and letting people know that communication and -- what goes on out there a lot of young guys. Don't know how did did -- -- -- and I seen him picked up real fast on not part of the game. How much do you since he wants to learn know when you're on the field or in the watching film how much is he may -- hope you guys say all right what goes on here what do -- that you know who he wants to be great he's not a guy that. That's -- high and mighty rookie this. Come in and I know everything that's going on disguise. He wants to be great he wants to beat you on the quarterback of the defense -- and that it helped us that a left. He wants to be the highest paid defensive player in football but he can't because -- don't know apparently has. Well I -- want to ask you about what we hear about every year every game it is not gonna shadow of the best receiver don't feel it happened some last year don't. I don't know that just because the media is allowed to go to training camp and -- yeah. I haven't really -- have big deal out of it a lot evidence sometimes you'll have to go to that side of the slot on the other side but are. Are you -- roam around more may -- they get -- Revis more but Charles was in this. Sure but you know I'm I'm hoping so I'm hoping to be inside a lot more in the slot on those third down situations you know when when they bring in at third receiver. Michael is you know to finally be in there and has lobbied for the glitz and it wouldn't. The draft pick in the coverage and those -- -- left and right now I don't have been at any moment so that bet that not a big issue but yeah. Maybe an amateur going there in the slot usually it's and -- those sorts of things. Would be fun and I got kidnapped that is the highest paid player -- he deserves to be on defense. That's because you've studied so hard to be the player that you are we're gonna bring Jason Campbell out in a minute one minute it's a really impressive to me. There's no way this guy works IC. Young wide receivers that's how you grade yeah. The whistle when everybody else when and it stayed out and work got -- -- -- got better what do you noticed about the war against the bigger and quarterback. Blow that thing with Jason -- yeah you'll get this when you talk that he wants to be so good. You don't think Campbell -- could be the best quarterbacks in football and that's what he feels he -- after every practice. Do you outside you know and stay after work to win the receivers did go and anything that he can't and you can do to get better. You know I love yeah yeah. -- hate America and everywhere and hear -- -- I'm not chaos sum up plaza up and down the. No global arena and then like 22 okay this is Tony -- Right now they just above the great recyclables quarterback two time all pro. Opening up our obligation raider nation celebration edition of top chronicle live.
