Thank you mr. -- First I'd like to express my sympathy to committee on the passing maternal aunt throws. And and I understand with a remarkable personal history and a man who served this country is great distinction. My condolences go out his family and all of you. Thank you for allow me to tell you a little bit about myself and how conduct in my professional career over the past 45 years. I've always believed that hard work and determination were the only ways to be successful. And to reach goals shortcuts were not an option. This is instilled in me since I was a young boy about my mother my grandmother. Over the course of my career I've had -- opportunity work with many trainers. Chiropractors. Physical therapists and other professionals trying to educate myself. And use what knowledge they had to keep my body in the best shape we could possibly be. I met Brian McNamee while playing for the Toronto Blue Jays in 1998. I trusted him put faith in him brought in around my family and my children I treat him just like I've done everyone else I've met my life. Like family. I'm a positive person and I enjoyed doing things for others I'm not just the ball player I'm a human being. Baseball's what I do is not who I am. I played the game because my love and respect for. I've devoted my life to it and pride myself an example for kids my -- as well as others. I've always try to help anyone who crossed my path that was in need. To that end here we are now -- me being accused of steroids and cheating the game of baseball. If found guilty of anything it is of being too trusting of everyone wanted to see the best in everyone being too nice to every one. -- considered be ignorant of that then Soviet. I've chosen live my life with a positive attitude. Yet I'm accused of being in a criminal and I'm not supposed to be angry about that. I keep my emotions in check in on -- accused of not caring. When I did speak out I was accused of protesting too much so I'm guilty. When I kept quiet at the advice of my attorney. Until they could find out why to worry about being accused of these things I'm most vets on the hot sound guilty. People make false accusations should not be allowed to define another person's life. I've freely without question shared my talent god gave me with children young and old now continue to do so. I've been blessed with a will and heart -- scares me on in life. I've had thousands of calls emails from friends working partners teammates. Fans of men that have held the highest office in our country telling me to stand strong. These words are welcome -- some very tough times from my family and me. Do I think steroids are good for helping someone's performance no in fact I think there are detrimental. These types of drugs should play no role in the game of baseball and athletics at any level.
