Over on Comcast sports net California 7 o'clock on Saturday evening against the New England Revolution you will go forward. -- career win number one. Hundred. But only two or three guys in the history of MLS has gotten over 400. And -- candidates dropped by brought -- double plays weekly column in the MLS Arturo Alvarez. The San Jose earthquakes are dual. Chronicle conversations subjects Arturo welcome your second time on chronicle I've howry -- a very good thank you for having me again in the old man in the locker room -- here -- Joe Kennedy you weren't even aware what I -- of -- such. You're going for number 100 on Saturday -- Is that is that significant for having the whole thing is to win that's a pretty big number for -- yeah it's not. You don't care about that at all now you're downplaying it now. That said it's always gonna give me he's I mean it's it's a nice round number but I think. You know I I think he'll only get like you said the more philosophically is that and he just try to enjoy the moment and -- you know we have a good group of guys and I think. You know more than individually I'd like to see us do well but. If you knew how many games I play I think. What I how. I think -- you have no idea how exactly but you don't I think all that stuff is you know. For you guys talked about it and -- let's let's live in the moment that didn't tell me about this season. They -- a rough year last year. I know but you're off to a decent start this year luster opener against Real Salt Lake. But he came back and beat the Chicago Fire you you had a goal -- games you won it once so far on the year how how how the team about coming together early in the year I think being deferred the really good. Iron to you know I. We want our offers an away game. You know against Chicago last weekend and that's something that last year we didn't do until maybe September I believe there was. So you know I think it's a good start on the field wanted to. You know opened the season with a win again at home for fans enough that didn't happen and you know that's where soccer is sometimes and went on a good thing is that we showed character and came back and no one's thinking and so. -- -- looking forward to this next home game against New England this weekend. Now what was the deal with you venturing out of the occasional little bit him. Defender came and I was a heck of a play that is save a bowler -- with a great plan that was are true as roommates Jason Hernandez. And easily another great young player we have a maximum sentence -- obviously -- -- compliment. And Jason's another one and I just came out to to you take a one on one right you know obviously. You know he decided to pass -- that you didn't you know -- was there to cover backs and it was a great play and two gossiping that was kind of the game changing. You know at that point 11 yeah stave off the line and we go and the young -- -- scores after that in that in my group -- par on the with a great and a Chicago so you can't really read a better script so what's his -- the guy is a rookie -- still going to school Wake Forest so he's still finishing up what he's got to do -- -- -- that's definitely busy schedule for multiple medal they'd just reckon -- of -- I mean who he -- -- he comes back for you know maybe on Thursday's. So we have a game Saturday come back Thursday -- with us before the game and then -- -- -- going back and he's you know finishing up school which I think it's pretty smart of him to do and a yes so he's flying an item I'm pretty sure he's. Ready to finish school in just you know -- and I found. You know time is still in college nobody got a guy it's a high school ages thirteen year old he just signed. Omar yeah we're out we're gonna after all the demographics critic and how -- high school college we're trying to get them out there so it's but. Nomar the good kid obviously as you pointed out fairly young but. It's not uncommon around the world tour for young soccer players to -- sign professional contracts and a I think it's just -- sign this guy that would make him so but he's a good young kid electric so we have a talented team and that's why I think people are so optimistic. About this year. Let's talk a little about the World Cup coming up is soccer's really gonna get the world's stage coming up in June in net and South Africa. Are you were on team USA throughout your career but you never had the privilege of of playing at a World Cup what are. What is that like for soccer player do you think is obviously some your teammates and guys you played against of represented Korea respective nations anatomy what does that liked it to be involved -- -- do you think that. Well I think it's like any other event that's you know. Kind of the pinnacle of your career I think you come to that game you're probably a little nervous and you know all these guys have jitters I think. For the players over in Europe that you know routinely play in front of 67. 50000 people. You know week after week it you know it takes them a little bit. She used to but it really instills that national pride that players kinda lose throughout their career. For our team I know. One of the strength of the American team is is the mental side and the toughness that they possess because obviously sometimes technically and tactically where. A little a little fear but. It's great I think all those guys could nervous the first 510 minutes and then someone comes in on hard tackle they wake up and it it's business as usual. You'll be exciting I did the web for the in your your biggest gonna shut down for a couple of weeks Volek goes on so as a team do you guys get together practice to you know really guys just completely shut -- down during the World Cup on it'll be the first -- -- probably my -- -- league -- -- -- -- the World -- so. I'm really haven't got our schedule but I Vietnam. But I'm pretty sure love the guys are gonna stick you know stick on there and you know just get together Watson's game and I don't think -- You know those in the games that you wanna be watching you know this summer I think -- You know it's just going to be you know the main event you know I think. You know will be watching and I think everyone should be as well ladies say they just a sticker I think the plan -- Young guys in Vegas and happy and live -- and I played a lot of it is that I a lot of these guys get there exhibited earlier today you have love love them but you know I'd. I go Jabrel some kind of thing or not how the cards are good seeing you again man congratulations to you and you're going to win Chicago and he's. Go get number 100 we will watch it on Comcast sports -- California Saturday I appreciate them as you can and -- joining us in studio.
